New Season - 2024 / 2025

The new billiard season gets under way on Tuesday, the 24th September.

New players are welcomed for the start of next year.
Contact the Billiards Secretary before the Christmas Break, should you wish to play.

Kenilworth Trophy FINAL

Dave Simmonds seizes the Kenilworth Trophy Title.

Guest snooker player, Dave Simmonds beat Billiards debutant Steve Mill to win the 2024 Kenilworth Trophy.
Dave took an early lead only to find Steve clawed his way back to a brief time in front, before Dave started to score steadily, and victory was his!

Birmingham Mail FINAL

Geoff Barrett Retains Title (again).

Geoff Barrett wins the Birmingham Mail Cup for the 14th time over 20 years.
Geoff scored breaks of 35, 35, and 32, with an average score per visit of 6.34.
George Cotterill, having done well to reach the final for his first time, managed an average of 3.00.

Camkin Cup FINAL

Chris Hiley Wins for a 4th Time.

Chris Hiley defeated last year's champion, Tony Baylis, to take the Camkin Cup title for the fourth time, after a gap of 23 years. Chris has previously won in 2001, 1996, and 1991.
Although Tony managed a break of 31, this did not make much of a dent in his 210 point handicap.
Tony had an average break per visit of 6.71, while Chris managed 2.42.

Morris Trophy 2024

Chris Hiley - Morris Trophy Champion 2023/24

In an extremely close finish to the 'delayed' final game of the Morris Trophy, Chris Hiley scores 4 points between the timer alarm sounding to the balls coming to rest, to win by 3 points.
The winner of this match was destined to become this season's Morris Trophy champion; sharing 10 points with last year's winner, George Cotterill, and Sid Deeming and Martin O'Reilly, but with a bigger match points difference.

Maurice Batchelor Trophy

Alan Batchelder Retains Trophy in 2024!

Alan Batchelder retained the Maurice Batchelor Trophy, beating George Cotterill in this year's final.

Note that the Maurice Batchelor, has for the third year, been organised as an Individual handicapped knockout competition, due to fewer than 4 Billiards teams being registered for LDBSA Billiards.

Billiards League 2023

Tony Baylis - League Champion 2023/24

Tony Baylis played well this season to become the LDBSA Billiards League Champion.
Winning 9 of his 14 matches plus a draw, and a break of 56.

As a result of having fewer than 4 registered billiards teams this season, the LDBSA Billiard League Championship was once again contested by individuals.

Geoff wins English Seniors

​Congratulations to Geoff Barrett on winning the English Seniors Billiards this year, after a 2 hour final; beating twice former English Amateur Champion, Phil Welham, by over 200 points.

Also congratulations to Martin O'Reilly for ably refereeing this final.

I say to you, even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream.
I have a dream that one day on the green baize of Leamington District, sons of billiard players and sons of snooker players will be able to sit down together around the table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that the four LDBSA billiard teams will one day become more, and live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour and number of their balls, but by the content of their cuemanship.
